  • Managing multiple design and development projects, ranging from initial concept, product definition, design & development, and transfer to manufacture

  • Overseeing other members of the Project Management team to deliver on projects under these partnerships

Crux Product Design is an ambitious, growing consultancy looking for a talented Test Engineer to join our team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further their career and work on some of the world’s most exciting product development projects.

In this role, you will work with our multi-disciplinary design and engineering teams to support the lab-based test & verification activities critical to the success of our world-class development programs. This will involve reporting to all levels of the business internally and externally to client teams where needed.

This is a key position of responsibility and your success in this role will be central to the success of the company. We need a meticulous, organised, and delivery focused individual with the drive and enthusiasm to deliver in a fast-paced and supportive team environment.

Principal responsibilities...

  • Formal product/device testing in a controlled environment
  • Development of test methods and formal protocols
  • Protocol generation & review
  • Data processing
  • Test reporting and review
  • Training Crux staff on how to operate equipment and generating instruction documents
  • Risk assessment preparation and sign-off
  • High quality photography of test setup and results
  • High quality video capture of test setup and results
  • Assisting with the building of test rigs and hardware
  • You are expected to work alongside the design and engineering team and have the ability to communicate the value of your work confidently and authoritatively to internal teams and client teams
  • Working with the project management team to plan lab access and resource schedules
  • Ensuring a safe and ordered work environment
  • Developing test/working/operating methods for equipment & workflow
  • Identifying and meeting with equipment suppliers for new purchases
  • Overseeing/reviewing test work of others
  • Lab and workshop tours to clients/visitors

Skills we're looking for...

  • A 1st or 2:1 degree in an engineering or another relevant discipline
  • Up to 2 years’ experience in a relevant field
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with experience of reporting
  • Highly computer literate
  • Ability to communicate ideas and work flexibly within a dynamic, multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – articulate and diplomatic manner
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills

Desirable, but not essential...

  • Experience within medical device development
  • Labview, Matlab and Simulink all desirable
  • Experience working to ISO 13485 and ISO 14971
  • Experience working within a consulting environment

Human Factors Engineer

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented Human Factors Engineer to join our growing team. Being part of the Human Factors and Usability team, you will be exposed to a range of exciting projects across all phases of development. You will be working with both internal project teams and global medical clients on developing safe and usable medical devices, ensuring that user needs are considered early and often throughout the design process. You will be responsible for identifying user needs and supporting use-related risk mitigation through the application of Human Factors principles and best practice. The role involves a range of activities such as desk and field research, use-related risk management, planning and conducting Human Factors studies and compiling results into clear and concise reports appropriate for client teams and in accordance to regulatory standards.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual with an interest in pursuing a career in usability and Human Factors. Being part of the Usability team but working in cross-disciplinary project teams, you will be exposed to a large range of exciting projects in varying phases of development. You will be responsible for conducting desk and field research, planning and running Human Factors studies, analysing data and compiling results in clear and concise written reports and presentations for a range of medical clients. You may be a recent graduate or have a couple of years’ experience, and have a passion for uncovering user needs and translating these insights into meaningful design solutions.
