This is a pivotal role, working alongside our multidisciplinary engineering teams, in a well-equipped and creative prototype and test environment. You will support teams of high performing experts, tackling some of the world’s toughest product development projects. You will take ownership of Crux’s Lab and Workshop facilities, managing and maintaining all test equipment, ensuring it is kept in calibration and good working order. Keeping abreast of the latest technologies suitable for Crux’s needs, to develop our test and prototyping facilities, you must have the ability to communicate the value of your work confidently and authoritatively to internal and client teams.

Principal responsibilities...

  • Provide training and expert advice on how to operate equipment safely
  • Ensure lab and workshop is kept to a high standard, feeding back to staff members on correct procedures
  • Conduct client/visitor tours, demonstrating Crux’s test capabilities
  • Enforce H&S and QMS process to ensure compliance
  • Risk assessment preparation and sign-off
  • COSHH assessment and maintenance of MSDS information, to include the purchase of necessary PPE and other safety related equipment
  • Assist with the building of test rigs and hardware, checking, capturing and validating own test results
  • Ensure suitable storage and traceability of test samples and materials
  • On-going development of test/working/operating methods for equipment and workflow
  • Managing installation and set-up of new equipment and testing requirements
  • Assist in writing test protocols and generating reports for DVT and EVT testing
  • Supplier liaison for repair/maintenance/warranty work
  • Create and maintain equipment training records for all Crux staff, including Lab and Workshop induction for new starters

Skills we're looking for...

  • Hands on experience with lab, testing and/or diagnostics equipment
  • Experience working to ISO 13485 and/or ISO 9001
  • Experience in the maintenance and management of equipment
  • Experience managing H&S requirements and systems in a similar environment (COSHH, risk assessments)

Being part of the Human Factors and Usability team, you will be exposed to a range of exciting projects across all phases of development. Principal responsibilities...

  • Diagnose and resolve software and hardware incidents, including operating systems (Windows and 0365) and across a range of software applications used across the business
  • Assist all users with any IT and digital related incident, whether desk side or remote, logging support tickets to document system changes and resolution actions

  • Articulating and presenting your thoughts and ideas to teams internally and client teams externally
  • Working collaboratively with Crux team members (product designers, engineers, usability experts, business development....)
  • Staying on track with emerging graphical trends and culture

What we'd like to see:

  • A portfolio that demonstrates versatility with, ideally, examples of technical illustrations, instructions, reports...
  • Agency or in-house experience is preferable, however, if you're a fresh grad with raw talent, passion and drive then we'd love to hear from you
  • An online portfolio showcasing considered, appropriate visual and digital executions
  • Expertise in all things Adobe Creative Suite from static to dynamic visuals and motion graphics. Building prototypes in XD or equivalent would be good to see 
  • Knowledge/understanding of HTML and CSS can be beneficial but is not essential
  • Proven understanding of typography, layout, colour and grid structures
  • Superb attention to detail

Years of experience are not a prerequisite. Instead, it is all about your creative and design capability and demonstrable experience. The types of project size you’ve worked on, your knowledge of emerging trends and the fundamentals of graphic design are key.

Being part of the Human Factors and Usability team, you will be leading a range of exciting projects across all phases of development, involving activities such as Human Factors studies, use-related risk management and building up a regulatory compliant HFE file. You will be working with both global medical clients and internal project teams on developing safe and usable medical devices, ensuring that user needs are considered early and continuously throughout the design process.   • Proactive maintenance and support for all of Crux’s IT hardware and buildings infrastructure
